Thanks to the internet and new technology, our computer is more than just a computer screen and a keyboard. We have a world of information and new things to learn. Don’t you wish you could read faster and take advantage of more information on the internet? Computer speed reading helps you do just that.

Computer speed reading is the act of quickly absorbing information on the computer screen. The goal is to read quickly but still retain comprehension of the material. Personally, I believe computer speed reading is worth learning because I have tried it myself.

I love reading news from around the world, learning from tutorials and such on the internet but with so many things to learn I never had enough time. Applying what I learned through computer speed reading helped me absorb more information and gain more knowledge.

Computer speed reading does absolutely no good if the material is not remembered. That is one thing all software and instructional methods have in common. There must be at the very least a 50% understanding of what you read. Anything less is basically a failure.

The goal is to read speedily yet still be aware of what are reading, which is only logical of course. This is true in any case. Some people who are slow or average readers still cannot grasp the significance of what they are reading. Computer speed reading helps you improve your reading speed and your comprehension of what you are reading.

Some computer speed reading programs teach techniques that can double your rate of reading and understanding. The truth is that there are many different ways of reading, for example “chunking” or “skimming” text. Some programs teach you how to put aside unimportant words within the text such as “and”, thus increasing your reading speed by only reading relevant words.
